Chantrey is as poised and polished as you’d expect from a former surgeon who lectures to global communities on the newest trends in aesthetics. (Her latest lecture series, ‘The Beauty Mastery’, covered topics spanning from multiculturalism and ethnic beauty to contem- porary and historical glamour.) But she’s also intuitive, with a deep-rooted desire to help patients find self-acceptance – which means taking on challenging cases that require rebuilding the facial features with expertly placed filler; or perhaps leading candlelit meditations from her One Aesthetic Studio in Cheshire (Chantrey is also a trained yoga instructor). When it comes to treatment, she’s careful to preserve the individual quirks of the face: ‘Before I inject, I ask myself, “Who is this person sitting in front of me?”,’ she says. ‘We need to be mindful of following trends. For example, strengthening a female chin, which humans subconsciously perceive as a male attribute. We are not going to see the impact of these changes for a few generations.’ Meanwhile, evolution of a different sort is happening in central London, with the launch of her brand new clinic at Selfridges, in partner- ship with SkinCeuticals. That’s change for the better.
